Hosta
Inspired by my photography when I used to do hand colouring of black and whites.... I chose to colour only one leaf.

Late Harvest
Some grapes were turning to raisins on the vine. Marlborough in April, with the sun glowing through the grapes, probably a pinot gris!

Arum in Black
In this painting, the lilys emerge from a softly textured black/darkgreen background, Yet again I tried some photoshop manipulation to get me away from painting super realistically.

Flame Rose
SOLD

For 8 months of the year we get to see a fence laden with this rose from our neighbours garden...we get the best view of it! The buds start bright apricot and as the bloom opens and ages, they turn peachy to gold and ruffly. I enhanced this in photoshop, so the reds/oranges are like flames. This is an acrylic painted on a large canvas. The wooden fence in the background has a crackle effect rendered.

Cream Rose - SOLD
This large piece is from a photo my daughter took in the Lady Norwood rose garden in Wellington′s botatincal gardens. I have ′funkied′ up the colours to make it a bit more contemporary, adding purple to the shadows, and apricot to the midtones.

Orchid
SOLD
Another of my photographs recreated on a large canvas in acrylic.
Orchid 388 AUD

Gerbera Magenta
I decided I needed to do something bold and pink, so knowing I had photographed this some time ago, it was an obvious choice. I started painting this with a group of friends in a studio overlooking the sea, then the school holidays interupted me completely. School is back, so it is now complete.
Gerbera Magenta 320 AUD

Poppies
I tried to capture the crinkled petals as they emerge from the buds, and the movement in the furry poppy stems.
Poppies 174 AUD

A Nice Pair - SOLD
I have tried to give this painting an old scratched negative feel.
A Nice Pair 388 AUD

Vine Art
Acrylic on canvas.
With a rich red textured background and a simple dainty white vine creeping over it, this would make a lovely little piece in a bedroom setting.
My school books at college often had these growing over them!
Vine Art 210 AUD

Frangipani
This summery painting will bring back memories to anyone who has holidayed in the Pacific Islands or the Sunshine/Gold coast. It is acrylic on stretched canvas and is ready to hang.
Frangipani 621 AUD

Ruby n Gold Leaf
Arylic on canvas, this painting is rich and textural. I have revisited the ferns which feature in other paintings. Metalic gold paint, red and black are the only colours used, with gold-leaf high-lights.
Ruby n Gold Leaf 347 AUD

Gold Leaf1
Originally a photo of a green fern, I had a play in photoshop to get the creative juices flowing. The finishing touches include a white wash over the black background, and gold leaf to give it an extra lift.
Gold Leaf1 1005 AUD

Gold Leaf2 - SOLD
A smaller, simpler version of Gold Leaf1, this painting has less detail, but more texture. The background has a worn leathery

Donated for Kapiti Aquatic Centre fundraiser auction Feb 2011
Gold Leaf2 388 AUD

Remembrance. Like most of my paintings, this was created from one of my own photographs. The colour of the bloom reminded me of the Anzac poppies. I have tried to capture the way the light was shining through the petals. The background has been textured with the use of crackle medium and layers of paint.
Remembrance 649 AUD

Rhodi
This slightly stylized rhododendron was painted mainly using a sponge, building layers by adding then removing paint. Detail was added by brush.
Rhodi 256 AUD

Mauve Magnolia
This large canvas was painted in a style inspired by an Australian artist and friend Jac Coates.
Mauve Magnolia 959 AUD
