Yellow Submarine
My interpretation to the lyrics of Yellow Submarine by The Beatles.
In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life
In the land of submarines

So we sailed up to the sun
Till we found the sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
In our yellow submarine

We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

And our friends are all on board
Many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play

We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

As we live a life of ease (A life of ease)
Everyone of us (Everyone of us) has all we need (Has all we need)
Sky of blue (Sky of blue) and sea of green (Sea of green)
In our yellow (In our yellow) submarine (Submarine, ha, ha)

We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

A depiction of the lyrics to Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.

So, so you think you can tell, Heaven from Hell
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail.
A smile from a veil
Do you think you can tell.
And did they get you to trade, your heroes for ghosts.
Hot ashes for trees
Hot air for a cool breeze
Cold comfort for change
And did you exchange, a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage.
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We are just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found. The same old fears.
Wish you were here..

Absinthe. Art Deco style oil painting on canvas.
Shes out on the prowl, shes ready to take
Shes looking for feelings, some real and some fake
The night is so dark it surrounds all her senses
She feels the chill air, it deepens defences
She sips on her Absinthe and inhales the sweet scent
Tonight will be different she will not lament
Some hapless soul will fall foul of the deed
Unwittingly drawn in by desire and need
Her lust will abound and take control
And tonight, at midnight, there is no parole.

Art Deco style oil painting on canvas.
Courtenay is a lady who just loves to shop. A woman of means who delights in the feeling of being free to savour her desire for decadence.

She strikes a pose in her world of glamour
To claim her place and his hearts enamour
Always on top and in the vogue
No time for wasters or a handsome rogue
Is she for real or is she a fake
One things for certain she will make his heart ache.

Playing with Fire
She laughs in the face of danger, she winks as she takes a shot. They can speculate all they like, but they know that she is hot
Her many accomplishments, her numerous flings, these are a few of her favourite things
There′s no fun in safety, it′s all about risk. She stirs them all up with her feminine whisk
Some say she is foolish, a gambler by trade, puts her eggs in one basket when they′ve just been laid
Skates close to the edge of the very thin ice, decides her tomorrow on the roll of a dice
Men hang by a thread, or fall at her feet, tempted by lust her irresistible treat
She will draw lots on those men who admire, and they will be certain they are Playing with Fire.

Social Butterfly
All her desires and needs are right there, just above those clouds where she can prepare
To flit and float with gregarious ease, to just be accepted in varying degrees
Her easygoing nature keeps the smile on her face, but that smile fades quickly without any trace
When she is alone, no comfort, no belonging, flicking through her diary, the agony prolonging
Until her next flight into the people throng, those fair-weather friends, none lifelong
She unfurls her wings, looks up to the sky, and majestically flutters, that Social Butterfly.

Paper Roses
As a birthday present, I attended an acrylic workshop by Lisa Christiansen who showed me how to work with acrylics in the same way that I worked with oils. I had a problem with glazing and layers, so once Lisa had opened my eyes I started to play and I am now enjoying working with acrylic paints. This is my tribute to Lisa, see what you helped to create!

Guilty as Sin
Sam had received the tip off that Big Tonys killer could be found at the Blue Light Club tonight. Her name was Scarlet and she was a music teacher by profession, lead violinist with the New York Symphony Orchestra. But he had been warned that this dame was no wallflower. In Xanadu did Kublai Khan
A pleasuredome erect
Moving at one million miles an hour
Using my power
I sent it by the hour
I have it so I′m mocking it
You really can afford it
Shooting stars never stop
Even when they reach the top
Moving on
Keep moving on
I will give you diamonds by the shower
Love your body even when it′s old
Do it just as only I can do it
And never ever doing what I′m told
Pay love and life
Long way from home

Glamourous Life - Oil on Linen - 122 x 92cm

She wears a long fur coat of mink, even in the summer time
Everybody knows from the coy little wink, The girl′s got a lot on her mind
She′s got big thoughts, big dreams, and a big brown Mercedes sedan
What I think this girl, She really wants, Is to be in love with a man
She wants to lead the Glamorous Life, She don′t need a man′s touch
She wants to lead the Glamorous Life, without love, It ain′t much
She saw him standing in the section marked, If you have to ask you can′t afford it lingerie
She threw him bread and said make me scream In the dark what could he say
Boys with small talk and small minds, really don′t impress me in bed
She said, I need a man′s man baby, Diamonds and furs
Love would only conquer my head
She wants to lead the Glamorous Life She don′t need a man′s touch
She wants to lead the Glamorous Life Without love It ain′t much
They made haste in the brown sedan, They drove to 55 Secret street
They made love and by the seventh wave, She knew she had a problem
She thought real love is real scary, Money only pays the rent
Love is forever That′s all your life
Love is heaven sent It′s glamorous
She wants to lead the Glamorous Life She don′t need a man′s touch
She wants to lead the Glamorous Life Without love It ain′t much

Michael Hutchence
These are the lyrics to Possibilities, from Michael′s solo album that was released after his death.

It′s so strange
How my life′s changed
I know nothing
About the people that I touched
Heard a story
It sounded easy
If you don′t care
Then you′re lying through your teeth
I was shook up
Intoxicated
Drank the juices
Of the possibilities
I′m so alive
If you told me
Nothing′s perfect
Hearts are broken
Nothing′s free
I could show you
Why it′s worth it
That′s the way that it′s meant to be
It′s too strange
How your life′s changed
You know nothing
About the people that you′ve touched
Someone told me
Life is easy
Hearts were bleeding and breaking
They were lying through their teeth
If you told me
Nothing′s perfect
Hearts are broken
Nothing′s free
I will show you
Why it′s worth it
And that′s the way that it′s meant to be
If you told me
Nothing′s perfect
Hearts are broken
Nothing′s free
I could show you
Why it′s worth it
That′s the way that it′s meant to be
Heard a story
It sounded easy
Got a new skin and
I′m lying through my teeth
I was shook up
Intoxicated
I drank the juices of the possibilities
Of the possibilities

Mark Knopfler The Sultan of Swing.
Another painting inspired by song lyrics.
You get a shiver in the dark
It′s been raining in the park but meantime
South of the river you stop and you hold everything
A band is blowing Dixie double four time
You feel all right when you hear that music ring
You step inside but you don′t see too many faces
Coming in out of the rain to hear the jazz go down
Too much competition too many other places
But not too many horns can make that sound
Way on downsouth, way on downsouth, London town
You check out Guitar George he knows all the chords
Mind he′s strictly rhythm he doesn′t want to make it cry or sing
And an old guitar is all he can afford
When he gets up under the lights to play his thing
And Harry doesn′t mind if he doesn′t make the scene
He′s got a daytime job he′s doing alright
He can play honky tonk just like anything
Saving it up for Friday night
With the Sultans with the Sultans of Swing
And a crowd of young boys they′re fooling around in the corner
Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles
They don′t give a damn about any trumpet playing band
It ain′t what they call rock and roll
And the Sultans played Creole
And then the man he steps right up to the microphone
And says at last just as the time bell rings
′Thank you goodnight now it′s time to go home′
and he makes it fast with one more thing
′We are the Sultans of Swing′

Where R U
A modern take on an age old problem. Where is he, why is he late, the camels were fine last time I looked, so why is he not here with me? In the old days, she would have sat and waited but in the new age of modern technology, he could at least phone her, or even send a text!
Just a fun painting, very bright and colourful.

Harmony was a collaboration of two paintings Kerryn by myself and Warm II by Susan Skelton which was used to promote our exhibition at the Pixel Ink Gallery in Wellington. Everyone, including ourselves were so enamoured with the image, that we have produced this into limited edition prints. These prints are printed in high quality light fast inks on archival heavy paper and are ready for framing. There will only be 100 prints available, signed by both artists. This is a little bit of history in the making.

Edition number 2 is a FRAMED AND SIGNED PRINT BEING OFFERED FOR SALE.

Lady Bountiful
The summer so far had been long and hot, Mummy and Daddy were off on their yacht
To pass the long days until learning returned, she would make the most of the time she had earned
The farmer seemed pleased that she was so willing, to work in the fields and help with the tilling
As well as the picking of veggies and fruit, she had gathered her thoughts that were now so astute
The powers that be that decided her life, had caused her concern, had caused them all strife
Her Mother was noted, for her charity work, her Father only known for being a political jerk
The US Anthem, never meant to condemn, was its true meaning really Us and Them?
She was the privileged child with no cares in this world, and she carried her flag completely unfurled
But no matter how open, how truthful, how keen, she was always caught up in the media machine
She worked hard and long throughout the hot day, and the cornucopia begun to heavily weigh
She rested a while, the harvest outpouring, and noticed above her an eagle was soaring
Silently rising up effortlessly into the sky, watching her intently with his piercing gold eye
The rooster, who had followed her from the outset, also spied the eagle and was starting to fret
As she slowly wiped away the sweat from her brow, she gently whispered inside a solemn vow
Anthems are one thing, true goodness is not, I will not become part of the hysteria plot
Make an Ass out of you and me, if you only assume, that being real only ends up in dismal doom
Let the seeds of humanity continue to grow, and no matter how poor or rich, reap what you sow
Stay genuine, be generous, charitable and liberal, and remain as always The Lady Bountiful.

This diptych represents a couple, sometimes at odds with each other, but in total Synchronicity as well.
The black lines are the same on each painting, each one being a mirror image of the other, but the other shapes are coloured differently to echo their individual perspectives on the situations going on around them.
Because of the synchronicity of each piece, this diptych can be hung in 16 different positions, but each way will line up with each other.
Whoever gets to own this painting will be able to choose how they want to hang the pieces to portray their life at that moment in time. They can then change them around according to their particular mood.
Painted on deep edge box gallery canvas in quality oil paints, with the painting continuing around the edges and in deep Art Deco colours.
The price quoted is for both paintings. Currently on exhibition at Artrium Gallery, Wellington, New Zealand

Angst
Take a life, an artists life
Make it hard, give them strife
Turn them into someone forlorn
Dont think twice about pouring scorn
Upon their work, for all to see
Does it well with intense glee
Cloaking you with their disdain
Its not the trend Are you insane
Its too much this or not enough that
With a sneer you are turned down flat
Time ticks away, you still produce
Your heart and mind need no excuse
To create at will, is your Endeavour
To climb the ladder of success, however
Many times they snap the rungs
You will climb and shout with expanding lungs
You will not hide your work away
In dusty drawers in disarray
You want the eyes of the world to gaze
Upon your work and lift the haze
To break fragile shells, and look inside
No longer run, no longer hide
Break through the fabric of your life
Your brush becomes a switchblade knife.

Pure Greenius.
Cicadas singing in the tree
Amidst a glow and mystery
They sing their song in constant rhyme
They do not care of space and time
People below are in constant chatter
About silly things that do not matter
Soon all will be quiet and they will be free
To continue their singing with abandoned glee.
